There are quite a few bundles going into circulation this winter season. Some are game collections, some are limited edition consoles being sold with games and I’ve been asked to look at as many as I can. The first of most that crossed my radar was Assassin’s Creed: The Americas Collection.
The collection includes Assassin’s Creed: Liberation, Assassin’s Creed 3 and Assassin’s Creed 4. This is a fairly decent collection, though… curiously named. “The Americas Collection” The only two games that are linked though the idea of “America” are Liberation and Assassin’s Creed III. Here is Ubisoft’s description of the individual games which I end quote after the sentence containing the word “America” is used.
Liberation:
“The year is 1765. As the events leading up to the American Revolution heat up in the north, Spanish forces plan to take control of Louisiana in the south” – Ubisoft
Assassin’s Creed III:
“The American Colonies, 1775.” -Ubisoft
Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag:
“The year is 1715. Pirates rule the Caribbean and have established their own lawless Republic where corruption, greediness and cruelty are commonplace. Among these outlaws is a brash young captain named Edward Kenway. His fight for glory has earned him the respect of legends like Blackbeard, but also drawn him into the ancient war between Assassins and Templars, a war that may destroy everything the pirates have built. Welcome to the Golden Age of Piracy.” -Ubisoft
Also, it should be noted that the unreleased Assassin’s Creed: Rogue, takes place around Northeast America somewhere between New York and the frozen tundra. It also threads a bit more lore in the Kenway saga. It seems as though The so-called “Real” Americas Collection would be Liberation, Assassin’s Creed III and Assassin’s Creed: Rogue.
Oh well. Oddly named, they are all great games. So if you cannot jump into the franchise this fall, this collection serves as a brief catch up of sorts. If this collection tickles your fancy, you may wish to check out the Ezio Trilogy.
LIFE PROTIP: If you do wish to get the Ezio Trilogy but want more Assassin’s Creed for your dollar, If you are playing on PS3, and can find a copy of Assassin’s Creed: Revelations with ones of these covers-ish
Good luck. Stay Jaded!
