Are you serious? OK.
Seeming very eager to set a world record and hopefully not a precedent for patches, It is being reported that Microsoft announced today that the Halo: Master Chief Collection will have a 20 GB day one patch.
The reason is they didn’t want to stiff the player out of content. Microsoft chirps.
“…we will also issue a content update at launch that is estimated to be 20 GB. You’ll be able to start playing Campaign and more as the content is installing, with some features and multiplayer content being added via the update. Yes, the update is large, but we weren’t about to cut corners to save disc space. This ensures that you are getting every bit of Halo goodness we can fit in.”
Now, I’m not picking on Microsoft or the developers but Pandora’s box has been opened here and I don’t want to see this ever again for a couple of years. This is a game plus an expansion. Day one! You are crazy.
The saving grace is that you will be able to play before the whole thing installs, which is great because all I really want to do is play the campaign. I thought for a second that I’d be playing Assassin’s Creed until this thing installs.
It should also be noted that if you opt for the digital copy, you can pre-install the whole deal to avoid the day one hassles.
